The Hot Dog .info webring: Bad News

I’m afraid the registration for the hot dog .info webring has expired.

Yes, that means that ataleoftwohotdogs.info and awesomehotdog.info and dogbehot.info and doublehotdog.info and haveyouseenmyhotdog.info and hawtdawg.info and hotdoghotdog.info and hotdoglimit.info and hotdogmeditation.info and hotdogsplayingpoker.info and hotdogtheband.info and hotdogtime.info and ilikethehotdog.info and somanyhotdogs.info and thatisahotdogplan.info and universityofhotdog.info and whoishotdog.info and whyisthehotdoghot.info and youmehotdog.info have expired. What’s even sadder is that I didn’t even getting around to posting anything on three of those. Damn.

As you probably remember, the idea was to have have these sustain themselves off donations from people who appreciated the services they offered. Kind of an NPR model. Without some kind of support I just couldn’t keep them going. The whole webring really only got up and running in the first place because of a spcecial I found where you could register a .info domain name for 89¢ per year for the first five and 79¢ per year for all .info domains after that. The catch was that after the first year they went up to $11.99 per year. So the goal was to raise $227.81 per year to keep it going, all of which would be spent directly on the fees. I would donate my time. Unfortunately the effort came up short. I received two donations, each for a dollar, and paypal kept 33¢ of each of those. I don’t want to do the math, but I guess we came up about 227 dollars short. I wish I had noticed they were about to expire I would have made one last plea for donations. To those who donated(Cari and Frosty): Thank you. I owe you a hot dog.

I guess the only good news is that I’ve decided to post the content of all those beloved hot dog websites somewhere else so they can live on and perhaps attract future donors to get them started back up again. Here they are:
