Cérélia North America is headquartered in Toronto, Ontario (Canada), which was incorporated in 1983. Cérélia’s key businesses are food manufacturing of cookies, rolled dough and pancakes/waffles for retail, food services and brands. Cerelia North America employs approximately 900 associates.
The activities of Cerelia North America are split over 3 different locations:
- Toronto, Ontario (CA): 2 factories and 1 distribution Center (cookies)
- Columbus, Ohio (USA): 1 factory (cookies & rolled dough)
- Liberty, South Carolina (USA): 1 factory (pancakes & waffles)

In 2020, we reset and refocused the business around the Toronto facilities for cookies, while adding rolled dough products with an excellent reputation and distribution across the US retailers, to our portfolio.
In March 2021, US Waffle, leader in pancakes & waffles joined the Cerelia family; in June 2021, we opened a new, state-of-the art, 150,000 sqft factory in Columbus, Ohio.
Cérélia continues to strengthen the relationship with its strategic customers across multiple distribution channels: food service, in store bakeries, retailers, clubs, convenience stores, and industrial partners.
Overall responsibility includes:
- Process bi-weekly payroll for salaried and hourly employees using ADP Workforce Now ensuing accuracy.
- Process payroll year end run and issue T4s and T2200s.
- Reconcile and submit annual reconciliations for WCB and EHT.
- Set up new hires, update employee profile changes and process terminations.
- Administer employee group benefits including employee benefits enrolment, salary and benefits changes update and terminations.
- Reconcile and process monthly benefits billing and allocate benefits cost department wise.
- Assist employees with online group RRSP enrolment and maintain records.
- Prepare ROEs.
- Responsible for processing garnishments.
- Process special payroll related calculations such as retroactive payments and time off accruals.
- Responsible for tracking accurate vacation time off.
- Prepare GL summary report for each payroll and send it to Finance department.
- Responsible for providing information related to payroll inquiries from Service Canada and CRA.
- Serves as main payroll contact to submit new service requests to ADP.
- Prepare headcount and overtime dashboards.
- Provide high-end customer service to managers and employees regarding their pay and benefits queries.
- Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
- Prepare ad-hoc reports for all internal stakeholders.
- Review existing payroll processes and systems, recommending updates and improvements as required.
- Maintain agency employee database.
- Provide training to agency co-coordinators and supervisors.
- Additional job responsibilities as assigned.
Entrance Qualifications
Desired
- A minimum of 3-5 years’ payroll processing and benefit administration experience.
- PCP or equivalent Payroll designations is an asset.
- Exhibits a high level of professionalism (tact, diplomacy, maintain confidentiality) and excellent interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll and reporting. Ability to research and keep up to date with changes.
- Intermediate to expert knowledge of processing payroll using ADP Workforce Now.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite (including Word, Advanced Excel and Outlook).
- Superior analytical skills with the ability to provide accurate forecasts and business insights and drive solutions to improve.
- Ability to collaborate with other departments and build strong working relationships, combined with an approachable disposition.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Enthusiastic learner and proactive individual with the ability to effectively manage various projects concurrently.
- Strong time management and organizational skills. A results-oriented individual with excellent problem solving and organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and deliver high-quality results within specified time frames.
- Attention to detail, ability to prioritize and make judgments, and a sense of urgency will be important to the candidate’s success.
