Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, TLX (Teaching & Learning Exchange), and Director, Faculty Professional Development and Academic Technology, the Digital Communications and Events Coordinator maximizes and increases the visibility and coordination of all TLX programming, resources, and events, ensuring that information is current and opportunities are communicated effectively.


Key responsibilities:


  • Support the planning, coordination, execution, marketing, registration, and record-keeping of all TLX events and programs, such as workshops, conferences, and professional learning certificates.
  • Develop and deploy an ongoing communication strategy for all TLX programs and resources using a range of digital media, including the TLX website, digital newsletters, social media platforms, emails, videos, etc. Collate and disseminate communication materials, in collaboration with the larger TLX team.
  • Maintain attendance records, databases (e.g., Mailing lists and spreadsheets) and prepare reports summarizing TLX engagement on an ongoing basis.
  • Support, coordinate, and attend TLX departmental team meetings and activities, as needed and appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Educational and Experience Requirements:


  • Three-year diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with a focus on digital Communications and/or content creation, Marketing, Event Management, or other related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in event and communications coordination and planning, including experience running in-person, remote, and hybrid events. Strong preference given to those who have experience working within higher education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with UDL and AODA standards and practices as they relate to the development of Accessible digital materials (e.g., developing content for those with low-vision) and/or events (e.g., supporting events with ASL interpretation) preferred.


Skills and Attributes:


  • Solid problem-solving skills; ability to troubleshoot and resolve conflict exercising tact, discretion and sound judgment; ability to prioritize.
  • Excellent abilities with Microsoft Excel and Outlook, as well as digital content creation software such as Adobe InDesign or Canva.
  • Excellent organizational, project planning, time management skills.
  • Demonstrated communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills at a professional level.
  • Proven ability to take initiative and work both independently and collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College’s priorities on diversity and equity.
  • Able to travel between campuses on a weekly basis.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 kg or 44 lbs (i.e., chairs, tables, display materials for events, equipment, etc.).


Interview process may consist of a practical skills component.
