What is the opportunity?

As a Data Systems Analyst, you will be working closely with Application Teams to determine data inventory and lineage from one source system to another. This is a key foundational work.

The team is undertaking multiple complex enterprise-wide initiatives as part of RBC’s ongoing plan to improve technology management and architectural governance across the organization. In this role you will be responsible for data analysis from an IT side to ensure proper data transfers.

What will you do?

  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and update IT Data Lineage.

  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems inventory

  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets required by ongoing projects.

  • Work with management to prioritize business and information needs

  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects etc), databases (SQL etc), programming (XML, Javascript, or ETL frameworks)

  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS etc)

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy

  • Demonstrated ability in written and oral communication skills along with strong presentation skills.

  • Deadline-driven and results-oriented; able to meet consistently high quality standards while handling a variety of tasks and deadlines simultaneously.

Nice-to-have:

  • Proven working experience as a Data Analyst or Business Data Analyst is preferred.

  • Technical expertise regarding data models and database design

  • A strong understanding of technology and/or financial services industry.

  • Strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills to work across functions and businesses
