Canadian Institute of Osteopathic Therapy (CIOT), located in downtown Calgary, is a fully licensed and designated career college providing programs in Osteopathic therapy. CIOT is dedicated to becoming Calgary’s premier career college and helping students become job ready. CIOT is working with Portage College, a premier public institution, to provide access to Portage College continuing education programs in the Calgary metropolitan area to international students. General Responsibility:

We are currently seeking a Student Services Officer who has the commitment and drive to help students achieve their greatest success. Reporting to the Campus Director the successful candidate works in collaboration with front office and student services to support our growing international student population.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize programs and events which address the needs of the students
  • Develop and maintain student engagement and peer mentorship opportunities for students and programs that support success of the students
  • Coordinate and support international student recruitment and retention at CIOT
  • Acting as front-line response for information inquiries and directing students to appropriate staff/services
  • Coordinate with the Campus Director and Academic Manager to finalize term start up communication via email and website
  • Collaborate with other service areas to promote student awareness, safety, success through information sessions and activities
  • Assist in orientation, planning, set-up, delivery and follow up as requested by the Campus Director
  • Prepare a list of expected students every intake and coordinate with recruiters to provide timely updates to the management
  • Communicate with students regarding any changes or important notifications
  • Other duties as assigned to support the international office functions and student supports

Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree in event management, office administration, Human Resources or Business is required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a College/University and with International students
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience working independently, and demonstrate effective collaboration with a variety of individuals and groups
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, cross cultural environment
  • Intercultural communication skills gained in a capacity of staffing, scheduling and leading volunteers
  • Ability to determine priorities, when to delegate issues, when to handle them personally, and at what point they need the attention of the senior leadership team.
