A career within PwC Private will provide the opportunity to help private companies with a range of business advisory needs such as audit, tax compliance, and planning to help improve their operational efficiency and to free up time that can be spent focusing on business strategy. You’ll have the opportunity to experience the entire business life cycle of a private company from inception to growth, maturity and transition. Our team helps our clients design and implement personal and customised service plans that are unique to privately owned entities, entrepreneurs, and high net worth individuals. You’ll be assisting the team focus on key issues like wealth management, compliance, cash flow management, equity expansion, divestiture and exit strategies. Our PwC Private teams help entrepreneurs, private business owners and family enterprises manage their ownership and growth at every stage, in a way that fits the needs of their business in today's changing global landscape.

Purpose-led work you’ll be part of

As a PwC Private Tax Manager, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Participate in managing complex compliance engagements including, for example, Canadian income tax returns, Canadian trust returns and Canadian deemed resident trust returns

  • Work on a variety of complex consulting engagements

  • Ability to identify opportunities with clients and propose solutions that meet the client’s needs

  • Lead the development of proposals and proposal teams

  • Establish a broad network of relationships, including the opportunity to work with industry associations

  • Support the development and coaching of tax professionals and other junior tax staff members

  • Participate in, and contribute to, market and business activities, including opportunities for contributing to publications and journals

Experiences and skills you’ll use to solve

  • Canadian CPA or other relevant professional designation

  • Completion or participation in CPA In-Depth Tax course an asset

  • Experience working in a public accounting firm or law firm an asset

  • Good understanding of Canadian tax rules and issues facing high net worth clients with corporations and trusts

  • Proven ability to manage multiple assignments, clients and staff, strong research, analytical, organization, and communication skills, the ability to work effectively under pressure, and a proactive attitude

  • Demonstrated business development skills and enthusiasm about contributing to the growth of the HNW practice

  • Ability to manage, develop, retain and mentor junior tax professionals

  • A demonstrated commitment to valuing differences, developing and coaching diverse teams, and ensuring diverse perspectives are heard
