As part of the Sony Pictures Television and Home Entertainment Distribution Canada (SPT/SPHE Canada) marketing team, this position will be fully cross-functional supporting across multiple lines of business including Television Distribution and Home Entertainment Digital. The role will develop and drive data insights-based go-to-market campaigns for the Home Entertainment new release & catalogue titles released in English and French Canada and facilitate strategic planning and client-level marketing support of AVOD platforms in English and French Canada.
This role will work closely with the Canadian and U.S.-based teams including local Television Distribution Sales and Marketing and Home Entertainment Digital Distribution Sales and Sales Planning, and U.S. Brand, Digital Marketing and Shopper Marketing to develop innovative marketing activations that build client engagement through b2b marketing initiatives, and consumer engagement to drive incremental revenue.
Reporting to the VP, Marketing & Co-Country Manager of SPT/SPHE Canada, this position will oversee the paid media campaign strategy including audience segmentation strategy, media mix and digital strategy, and act as lead on local data analytics and consumer insights initiatives.
Core Responsibilities:
Strategy - Media & Audience Data Strategy
Working alongside VP Marketing, set divisional digital strategy for the HE transactional business
Oversee paid TVD and HE media campaigns (100% digital strategy) – from developing campaign strategy, media mix, creative and audience strategy
Management of title P&L, including management of marketing investment
Negotiate agreements, brief agencies and maintain workflow with key vendors (I.e., advertising agency, promotional agency and local pr firm), and cross-functional teams; work effectively with internal (Can and U.S.) teams
Identify trends and insights, and optimize spend and performance initiatives based on insights; understand the customer journey by leveraging Sony Pictures-supported analytical tools
Assist with copy writing and tailoring creative to targeted audience segments, and oversee creative copy approvals
Work alongside digital advertising agency to measure and report performance of all digital marketing campaigns, and assess against goals (ROI and KPIs)
Act as lead on local data analytics and consumer insights, including standardizing metrics across all title campaigns and developing and maintaining campaign benchmarks for reference purposes
Run, as necessary, any national social listening and competitive analysis through tools like Brandwatch
Run marketing research surveys and implement learnings to drive growth of the digital transactional business
Present local GTM’s and post-mortem reports to local commercial team, and U.S. and International marketing groups, when needed.
Title-Specific Home Entertainment Release Planning (GO TO MARKET)
Manage title-specific kick-off and Commercial Decks, EPO Toolkit Canadianization and Distribution
Work with VP, Marketing, and additional Marketing Team members to determine title-specific strategic digital marketing plans
Manage title-specific campaign activities including agency briefing, idea generation, creative audience segmentation strategy, and creative development and editing; ensure seamless title campaign execution
Work with cross functional teams in the US and Canada to execute local marketing strategies on studio content across digital platforms – responsibilities include account management, media, and PR.
Prepare and distribute all sales presentation materials including packages and wrap decks, new release product changes and market updates, trailers, industry awards and other information that can be used to support the sell-in of SPE titles.
Maintain effective communication for creative asset development through US Creative Team including production and approvals through Brand and Legal and Director, Marketing
Work with Supervisor to determine strategic Marketing title plans for Franchise Films, Catalogue and TV Content
Digital Accounts/Clients Program Strategy & Account Management
Manage marketing support on key accounts: CTV.ca/ctv app, Apple TV+, Microsoft, Google, Cineplex Store, ROKU,
Develop solid knowledge of Digital account capabilities - their cross platform and digital strategies, capabilities, and marketing calendars to exploit timely opportunities and link customer strategies with the company’s goals and objectives
Host monthly calls with digital streaming platforms to discuss content curation opportunities and temporary promotions
Work with the Digital Sales team in the planning, influencing and implementation of marketing strategies and programs to maximize profitable growth in-line with SPE Distribution Canada’s corporate objectives
Liaise with cross-functional teams (CIA, Sales, Shopper Marketing, Digital Operations) to leverage analytics, market research, insights, and competitive analysis to define title-specific marketing strategy development and direction.
Oversee placement negotiation on tagged media spends
Liaise with U.S. marketing team on artwork creation for on-store placement
Ensure Canadian team is in-sync with digital account US initiatives
Draft client-facing ppt presentations and present product line-up including: an overview of title-specific New Releases; title-specific promotions, drafting opportunities and title postmortems utilizing in-house content tools
Education, Years of Experience, Specialized Knowledge or Skills Required:
5 - 7 years experience in digital marketing and/or advertising
Combination of excellent marketing experience and exceptional oral & written skills coupled with analytical and financial knowledge
Considerable experience in television distribution and/or home entertainment, streaming platforms or telcos
Experience managing vendors (advertising agency, pr agency & creatives), crafting creative briefs, and giving providing constructive feedback
Keen understanding of client servicing and account management
Understanding of insights-based digital marketing and social media initiatives
Solid understanding of how to interpret data, utilize excel and tell a story through data within a well-designed power point presentation.
Proficient in Microsoft outlook, word, PowerPoint, TEAMS and google docs
Keen knowledge of social media trends
