Exciting opportunity to work at Full Scope of Practice on an Acute Medical Inpatient Unit consisting of a unique blend of Medical Teaching and Oncology patients. You will help to advance the unit’s values of: Collaborative practice, Full scope of practice, Patient and family centered care and evidence based practice while working in a dynamic team environment that supports learning. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide patient and family focused nursing care while working in a collaborative care service delivery model. This is a great opportunity to develop your leadership skills as an RN (RNs function as Care Hub Lead) while working together with other team members to share knowledge, skills and abilities to patient care in a process of continuous communication and shared decision-making among patients/families and all of the care providers who are involved in a patient's care. You will also have the opportunity to mentor new staff and teach students. To be successful you will need strong critical thinking skills, the ability to prioritize competing demands, good communication skills and work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to ensure the development, implementation and ongoing administration of the client care plans.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.17/hour - $42.96/hour ($35.87/hour - $43.82/hour effective April 1, 2023). Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 1 years’ bedside nursing experience (within the last 3 years) in acute care medical nursing, with proven ability to function in acute care nursing. Demonstrated commitment to collaborative practice. Demonstrated accountability, critical thinking, interpersonal and communication skills required. Ability to contribute as a team member, learn within a dynamic environment and adapt/cope with change. Demonstrate excellent time management and organizational skills. Requires the ability to tolerate constant walking, standing, kneeling, bending, reaching, and sustaining posture within a fast paced unit requiring lifting, pushing, pulling of objects greater than 50lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience on Unit 46 or previous experience on a general internal medicine/oncology unit, within the last 2 years, preferred. Previous Charge Nurse Experience in an acute setting preferred. Recent discharge planning experience an asset. Experience in working with Core elements of COACT an asset. CVC/ PCA certification preferred. Recent Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training and Current It’s Your Move certification preferred.
