Our client, a leader in the waste water product manufacturing industry, is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join their team on a long term basis in the Hamilton area.

Manufacturing Engineer duties & responsibilities

  • Will be responsible for ensuring that machinery is in good working order so production can run smoothly & safely. Also carry out repairs or supervise technical staff doing such work.
  • Installing new equipment to improve a company’s manufacturing processes
  • Designing new equipment or operational procedures
  • Troubleshooting machines to resolve breakdowns or faults
  • Gathering data and compiling reports to assess the effectiveness of manufacturing procedures
  • Maintaining contact with customers and suppliers to ensure quality standards for machinery and products are being met
  • Provided engineering and technical support to operations by identifying potential cost savings and reducing or eliminating engineering waste.
  • Improved manufacturing systems through the implementation of lean manufacturing processes and tools.
  • Plan, led and implement Kaizen events, cycle time reductions, set-up reductions and pull systems resulting in scrap reduction, WIP reduction to reduce overall takt time and increased equipment utilization & capacity.
  • Worked closely with operations to develop the various production work cells, conduct cycle time studies, implement & enforce labor standards.
  • Participate in technical meetings as requested with the purpose of providing resolutions to problematic processes and equipment to ensure a robust and stable manufacturing system.
  • Work closely with external vendors to find alternative replacements for troublesome components and upgraded various production equipment to

stabilize and make robust the processes hereby reducing the fully burdened scrap rate.

  • Experience in generating detailed equipment specifications, purchasing of new equipment and start-up of new equipment.
  • Prepare Standard Work Instructions and Total Productive Maintenance checklists and conducted training to maintenance/operations personnel, on new equipment and process.
  • Develop, implemented and maintained PFMEA’s with support of QA engineers and participation in the APQP process to establish steps necessary to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in the installation, testing and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Ensured compliance to OHSA and Company EHS guidelines were met and maintained during installation and operation of new equipment.

MUST HAVES:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing
  • Lean Equipment Experience
  • Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering
  • Solidworks experience
  • Lean Processes (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, 5 Why's)

NICE TO HAVE:

  • 6 sigma black belt
  • Kaizen Systems
