Department Overview

The Treasury and Balance Sheet Management (TBSM) department of TD Bank is responsible for overseeing the management of TD Bank’s consolidated non-trading market risk, funds transfer pricing measurement framework, funding strategies and liquidity risk, and capital position.

The Front Office and Investments team within TBSM has overall responsibility for the execution of hedging and investment portfolio management activities in support of the Bank’s asset-liability management strategies. In the context of the overall balance sheet management, the team optimizes investment portfolio strategy and execution subject to interest rate risk, credit risk, liquidity, tax, and capital constraints.

Job Description

The Manager will report to the AVP, Investment Portfolio Credit and is accountable for:

  • Responsible for the annual update and ongoing maintenance of select Enterprise Investment Portfolio policies, as required, and for developing procedures to ensure related timelines and governance processes are respected

  • Manage credit facility requests pertaining to the Enterprise Investment Portfolio in accordance with its target risk profile by working with internal stakeholders, Credit Management and Credit Risk Management groups

  • Monitor the credit performance of the Enterprise Investment Portfolio, including the development of ad-hoc reports at the request of business partners, regulators and senior management

  • Manage and enhance credit infrastructure and governance projects and initiatives pertaining to the investment portfolios

  • Assist with the preparation of Committee / Audit / Regulatory / Risk Management etc. presentations / submissions pertaining to the investment portfolios

  • Respond to various requests from regulators / auditors / senior management and other key stakeholders regarding the credit risk profile of the investment portfolios

  • Maintain robust, scalable, and well-documented processes

Requirements

  • Ability to draft effective correspondence, such as memos, decks and emails in a concise and timely manner to a senior audience, is critical for this role
  • Experience with financial products, credit analysis tools and analytical frameworks preferred.
  • Experience (3+ years) with capital markets and financial instruments
  • Excellent data management, analytical, problem-resolution and consensus building skills.
  • Effective communication and relationship management which can interrelate to a cross section of stakeholders including senior management, risk management and credit management groups and other front office team members.
  • Experience with credit management and credit risk management structure and /or other similar asset management compliance groups would be an asset
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop good business relationships and work with minimal supervision in an unstructured and fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to work with Microsoft Powerpoint, Word and Excel software.
