NOVA Chemicals’ Joffre manufacturing facility lies just east of Red Deer, Alberta and is one the largest ethylene and polyethylene production complexes in the world. The site consists of five manufacturing facilities: three for ethylene production and two for polyethylene production.


Joffre’s first ethylene plant started production in 1979 and was the first manufacturing facility built by NOVA Chemicals. A second ethylene plant and a polyethylene plant began production in 1984. In the year 2000, NOVA Chemicals started up a third ethylene plant, as part of a joint venture with DOW Chemical, that nearly doubled Joffre’s ethylene production, taking it to 4.8 billion pounds (2165 kilotons) annually.

Jardeg Construction is currently seeking Pipefitters Journeyperson to join the maintenance team supporting NOVA at Joffre, AB. This is a Full Time Temporary position on 6/1 rotation with 10-12 hours a day, until June-July with possibilities of extension. Eligible candidates will be provided LOA. Succesful candidates MUST be willing to work NIGHT SHIFT.


Responsibilities:


  • Demonstrate knowledge of functional operation of various piping system components by measuring, cutting, threading, grooving and bending of pipes, valves and fittings.
  • Layout, assemble, fabricate, maintain and repair piping systems which carry water, steam, chemicals or fuel used in heating, cooling, lubricating and other processes.
  • Hydrotest and install fabricated pipe spools within structural steel modular assemblies, adding designed supports as required.
  • Use testing equipment effectively to check for system leaks and troubleshoot fitting errors.
  • Maintain all tools, work area and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Read and interpret client and company supplied construction fabrication drawings and specifications.
  • Red-line update drawings to an as-built condition.
  • Follow various company and Client policies & procedures including adherence to requirements of ISO 9001-2000.


Minimum Requirements:


  • Journeyperson Pipefitter Certification.
  • Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS-2020)
  • ESC Fall Protection. (MUST HAVE)
  • ESC Confined Space. (MUST HAVE)
  • Aerial Work Platform (preferred not required).
  • Standard First Aid preferred not required).
