Job Description:

You have a proven track record in the provision of patient- and family-centred care through expert clinical practice, consultation, education, research, and leadership. You understand the importance of building and maintaining relationships with community partners and other external stakeholders in the provision of advanced nursing practice and in achieving the best possible outcomes. Functioning to the full scope of your NP practice and working collaboratively with members of the interprofessional team in a very busy and dynamic Emergency Department (ED).

Qualifications:
  • Graduate of a recognized college or school of nursing
  • Masters degree with an approved Nurse Practitioner component
  • Primary Care Certification required; expereience with pediatrics an asset
  • Current certifications in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Member of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario ( strongly preferred)
  • Demonstrates leadership and strong organizational, oral, written communication and computer skills
  • Is self-directed and collaborates effectively within the context of an interprofessional team
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge and analysis of nursing practice issues
  • Provides consultation regarding complex patient care needs to nurses, physicians, and to other members of the interprofessional team within and beyond the hospital
  • Provides direct care, emphasizing health promotion, prevention and collaborative management
  • Advocates for patient- and family- centered decision making within the health care delivery system by continuously assessing patient/family capabilities
  • Applies advanced knowledge and skill of teaching/learning theories in approaches to patient/family and staff education
  • Participates in research and utilization; communicates the importance of research findings relevant to clinical practice
  • Maintains and seeks memberships in provincial and national organizations that promote self growth; contributes to patient care and the advancement of the nursing profession
  • Provides leadership within the organization and in the community
  • Satisfactory attendance and performance record required
