About the role:

We are looking for an Operations Manager to join our dynamic life sciences team. In this role, you will be responsible for all program operations in relation to assigned account, including but not limited to; employee recruitment and training, team workload management, client reporting, meeting technology, maintaining contracted service agreements, compliance, and budget management.


Additionally, the Operations Manager will work with the Regional Account Manager ongoing to develop best practices, benchmarking, account optimization, training initiatives, standard operating procedures and other duties and responsibilities not specifically outlined herein, but which are logically and properly inherent to the position as directed by BCD M&E. As an Operations Manager you will:


  • Directly manage the day-to-day operations of a virtual internal planning team that works across multiple areas of the meeting & event planning cycle.
  • While supporting the Team’s operational excellence, the Operations Manager will also provide onsite support for program execution and serve as a financial analyst supporting the final reconciliation process for closed programs and client billing.
  • Manage customer service level agreements, compliance and oversee account audits.
  • Interact with Account Management team to provide recommendations on optimization, staffing, and address account operational issues.
  • Operate as first point of contact for escalations for all meetings resources, client stakeholders and company leaders (internal and external).

You are good at:

  • Analytical skills, general understanding of accounting, budget and profit and loss statements.
  • Written and oral communication skills, including public speaking and client presentations.
  • Owning the room by conveying confidence, knowledge of best practices in meetings and events and have a professional presence at first impression and on-going.
  • Developing a culture of team vs. individuals, while managing multiple priorities and being adaptable.
  • You have exceptional problem-solving skills, are calm under pressure and work well in a collaborative environment.
  • Establishing long lasting, professional relationships with clients, co-workers, and vendors.

You might also have:

  • Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in incentives, event planning and/or program management, to be able to anticipate & solve problems prior to program impact required
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in managing people.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience managing outside vendors, sourcing, negotiating contract services, budgeting, and final reconciliation.
  • Previous Leadership Experience.
  • Able to travel (0-25%) to client site, program and team locations as required.
  • Life Science Meetings Experience.
  • Proficiency in Budget Management and Final Bill Reconciliation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

You should know:

  • This role is virtual and operates in the Eastern time zone (Client headquarters located in Eastern time zone)
  • Our standard working hours are 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM, with an hour break
  • Covid vaccination may be required to travel for this role
