The role of Manager, IT Infrastructure, Servers will be responsible for leading and directing a group of IT resources, including organizing and prioritizing work. This person organizes and attends meetings to discuss workloads and prioritization efforts, both inside IT and with various business stakeholders, and then monitors the work and adjusts as required.
The Manager, IT Infrastructure, Servers, is responsible for the design, planning, setup, monitoring, maintenance and security of West Fraser´s IT Infrastructure servers (physical, virtual) and Data Centers (including distributed data rooms), enterprise storage, Citrix, printing, monitoring and patching. The role of the Infrastructure Servers Manager is to lead West Fraser’s IT infrastructure staff and direct major IT projects and initiatives.
Reporting to the Manager, IT Infrastructure and will provide expert technical assistance for West Fraser´s systems, servers, and data centre requirements. This role is based onsite and will be responsible for designing, implementing, and testing complex IT infrastructure in timely support of manufacturing production and operations.
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring adherence to procedures, policies and standards set by management, especially related to work management, tickets, and change management & audits
- Plannning short-range priorities to carry out long term goals set by management
- Assigning and delegate tasks
- Provide support to the Project Manager in developing and maintaining project timelines or manage small to mid-size projects
- Provides updates to your manager & appropriate business groups on the status of initiatives and projects
- Develop and promote effective communication channels
- Develop and promote team cohesiveness
- Provide training and development opportunities for your team including regular one-on-one meetings
- Address performance issues with oversight from managers
- Approve team leaves, vacations, holidays
- Approve department invoicing and purchasing working with the manager
- Will be involved in the department budgeting process but not responsible for budget delivery
- Responsible for a timely expansion of the IT Infrastructure as required by West Fraser´s expansion and operations
- Responsible for building a resilient and redundant infrastructure that will reduce\eliminate failures and downtimes, and supports the continuous 24x7 delivery of IT Services
- Lead and manage a team of Infrastructure analysts and technicians to layout, install, configure, maintain, and IT systems
- Performing periodic infrastructure assessments security audits in conjunction with the Security Team
- Planning and implementing upgrades required to maintain adequate service levels
- Participating in the administration and maintenance of all remote monitoring solutions and Infrastructure Management Systems
- Recruitment, training, supervisng IT Infrastructure personnel to ensure support of business operations
- Managing technical vendors, contractors, and Infrastructure consultants
- Following the vision of the Infrastructure Manager and business requirements, develop projects and initiatives in a 1-5 year timeframe
- Building and maintaining close working relationships with other IT and business leadership to determine project priorities and impacts
- Mentoring staff in diagnostic approaches, prioritization, decision-making, and communications
- Developing informative reports to management and staff toward continuous improvements in standardization and compliance
- Leading production systems, including Active Directory, Azure, Exchange Online, Office 365 Tenant, Group Policy, Certificate and License services, Key Management
- Leading design, implementation, documentation, and testing of IT Disaster Recovery solutions for critical production systems
- Building and improve monitoring capabilities to provide a clear view of current systems state, and integration with ITSM ticketing and change management tools
- Directing team members toward developing a Standard Operating Environment (SOE), ensuring compliance with the SOE of all hardware and software changes, and accurately creating and maintaining all system documentation
- Building and implementing plans to ensure infrastructure systems are continually within their support and maintenance life cycle
- Implementing Security Team policy directives to maintain secure environments and protect the organization and to ensure security and integrity, continuity, and availability of infrastructure systems
- Coordinating scheduled maintenance windows across multiple teams to avoid change control conflicts
- Learning new technologies and participate in regular training
As the ideal candidate you will have:
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Excellent skills in crisis management and communication
- Strong experience leading local and remote employees and contractors
- Strong current knowledge of Windows Server technologies
- Experience with Active Directory, domain environments and related services
- Experience with PowerShell scripting and systems management capabilities
- Experience with Linux and Unix
- Experience with the Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform
- Experience working in Service Now or other major ITSM ticketing and change management tools
- Knowledge of SharePoint, Intune, Teams, cloud storage is an asset
- Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards
- Experience with Human Capital Management systems required, UKG specifically would be an asset
- Four-year university degree or college diploma in the field of computer science or equivalent work experience
- Requires advanced technical and business knowledge in application development practices
- Ability to orchestrate and coordinate work of others
- Ability to set goals for deadlines in ways that comply with company's plans and vision
- Ability to be a hands-on Manager, performing work of the team when necessary to meet commitments
- Excellent management skills with the ability to perform in a challenging, but collaborative, work environment, with individuals from across the organization with diverse interests and concerns
- Working knowledge of enterprise middleware, cloud applications and relational databaseincluding integrations
- Highly self-motivated with keen attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal, listening, written, and oral communication skills
- Advanced levels of analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking
- Ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language
- Strong customer service orientation
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
