Description:
Black Canadian Studies, is an interdiscplinary course at the Transitional Year Programme that explores the histories, cultures and experiences of Black Canada. Students learn about people of African descent in the Americas through cultural studies, history, literature, and the arts. Your duties as governed by Article 7:03 of the Collective Agreement between the Governing Council of the University of Toronto and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) 3902 Unit 3 will include:
Qualifications: Advanced degree in a related discipline to Black Canadian Studies and extensive coursework/and or research in this area. Possess in-depth knowledge of Transitional Year Programme (TYP) student supports, curriculum, and culture. Demonstrated commitment to equity and anti-oppressive/social-justice approaches to education. Familiarity with Quercus and online/remote instructional methods.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous work experience, and/or coursework relating to anti-oppression and/or social-justice approaches to post-secondary education. In-depth knowledge of the University of Toronto community and University of Toronto student experience an asset. Knowledge of/experience with adult education and the University of Toronto. Salary: $9,457.90 (vacation pay included)
Sessional Dates: The course will be offered over the Winter term (January 2024 - April 2024)
