Course Description: The Adaptation and Biodiversity and Molecular and Cell Biology seminars are designed to support TYP students enrolled in BIO120H1 and BIO130H1 to help TYP students identify principles and concepts of evolution and ecology related to origins of adaptation and biodiversity. This course also provides students with a common lexicon to understand the key principles and concepts in molecular and cell biology, with a focus on how the building blocks of life lead to functioning cells.
Minimum Qualifications: Minimum requriements include a doctorate degree in a science based discipline and in-depth knowledge of Transitional Year Programme (TYP) student supports, curriculum, and culture. Demonstrated commitment to equity and anti-oppressive/social-justice approaches to education. Familiarity with Quercus and online/remote instructional methods. Previous coursework in Science or related subject.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous work experience, and/or coursework relating to anti-oppression and/or social-justice approaches to post-secondary education. In-depth knowledge of the University of Toronto community and University of Toronto student experience an asset. Knowledge of/experience with adult education and the University of Toronto. Experience advising students and providing academic support.
