OVERVIEW

McCain is embarking on a digital transformation of our Manufacturing processes with digital technologies and AI. We have just received a grant from the Canadian government’s ScaleAI program to support an ambitious ramp-up of our activities to digitize and employ AI at our factories, a project we call MDIxAI. This is an exciting project that will transform Manufacturing at McCain for generations to come.


We are looking for a unique individual who can drive the creation of a secure, globally-scalable and cost-effective IT Platform, on which our custom applications will live. This individual will be responsible for any back-end need for these applications, including but not limited to data integrations, environment creation and management, promotion activities, AI integration, and innovation of the platform to meet current and future needs of the applications. We are treating the IT Platform as a “product” and looking for a Product Owner to manage the Platform end-to-end, working in agile cadence.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The IT Platforms Lead will have the following responsibilities:

  • Overall end-to-end ownership of Solution Platform:
    • Support design and build of platform (environment setup, integration, data, etc.) that supports the custom digital applications
    • Define and maintain agile cadence for platform related activities
    • Support product/application development by coordinating platform build activities between various teams (IT OPS, Data, Product, etc.)
    • Create documentation for operational effectiveness and provide inputs to further refine the DevOps process
    • Ensure implementation of leading practices related to Cyber Security (application security , data security, etc.) by coordinating with cyber security teams
    • Determine readiness criteria and conduct assessment to scale the applications globally
      • Provide inputs to define future state architecture using edge computing
  • Provide platform thought leaderships across teams, including Product Owners, developers, and cloud architects; become a trusted advisor on platform and application layers
    • Distill key learnings from business use case integrations, engaging with Product Owners, developers, and cloud architects to carry forward best practices as platform is leveraged at other plants
    • Understand Product Owners, developers, and cloud architects’ key user pain points and current day-to-day processes
    • Actively communicate progress and raise blockers to program manager, with solution-oriented mindset to continue driving program forward in a timely manner
    • Consistently align with Product Owners to ensure platform is aligned with overall MDI x AI program objectives and timelines
    • Provide support/input/best practices to Product Owners, developers, and cloud architects to help them when developing solutions that require platform capabilities
  • Act as the Product Owner of the IT Platform, with activities including:
    • Establish a user feedback process with Product Owners, developers, and cloud architects that gets incorporated into platform plans
    • Work closely with Technical Leads, Product Owners, developers, and cloud architects to follow technology architecture, content fulfillment, quality assurance, performance testing, data flows, and ongoing product availability and delivery
    • Ensure platform performance and reliability with technology, engineering, and data teams
    • Define, align, and maintain platform policies, guidelines, standards, and governance

  • Technical Skills
    • Experience in large-scale cloud data migrations
    • Experience in creating solutions on Azure stack and enterprise data hubs on Azure Data Lake
    • Knowledge of Edge Computing architecture, cloud data and application security preferred
    • Experience in data management, data architecture, Azure (Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, and DevOps), Power Apps, git workflows, and scripting
  • Nice to have: Experience in global digital transformation programs, experience in Manufacturing environments, Experience as a product owner
