Job Description

The Great Bear project is a development-stage asset located in the renowned and prolific Red Lake mining district, and represents one of the most exciting recent gold discoveries globally. The project has excellent potential to become a top-tier deposit that could support a large, long-life mine complex. Kinross’ comprehensive exploration and development program will aim to support the vision of a quality, high-grade, open-pit mine and a longer-term, sizeable underground mine.

Job Description

You will be responsible for supporting the site with superior customer service and technical expertise to maintain high standards that ensure the technology needs are satisfied and IT requests are resolved in a timely manner with the utmost integrity at the Kinross Great Bear site.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for hardware and software maintenance, device set up, service and telecommunications assistance, network and infrastructure support, communication and problem resolution.
  • Installation of new equipment, respond to service requests, troubleshoot equipment issues and provide technical training on company equipment.
  • Provide Global Client Services support to users at remote sites either via phone, email, or desk side as required.
  • Support the team with hardware refreshes by providing specifications, deployment, and maintenance as needed.
  • Provide remote and on-site support to users for basic, peer-to-peer networks and administer local network environment.
  • Provide preventative and proactive maintenance for clients (on-site and remote).
  • Provide support and troubleshooting for a variety of technologies including but not limited to:

Server administration, anti-malware, Office 365, Windows 10, Azure AD

  • Manage employee onboarding and off-boarding processes.
  • Perform troubleshooting, and analysis, of network and systems infrastructure to diagnose and resolve system and connectivity problems.
  • Manage and configure VoIP systems, meeting rooms, conference systems, and A/V systems.
  • Manage ITSM software and audit IT asset inventory (mobile devices, laptops, workstations, and associated hardware).
  • Manage and secure endpoint devices using tools such as MDM and endpoint protection software.
  • Help ensure company IT policies and security practices are adhered to.
  • Responsible for effectively developing, testing, recommending and implementing new IT systems and processes.
  • Establish and maintain professional working relationships with third-party contacts, as well as effective working relationships with area staff, other departments, and with management.
  • Develop reports, presentations, or updates as necessary to keep management informed of systems performance, systems lifecycles, technical problem management, project status, and systems status.
  • Troubleshoot and determine the root cause of connectivity issues (internal and partner), resulting in minimizing disruptions to the user base as needed.
  • Assist team in maintaining, supporting, and enhancing VDI physical and virtual infrastructure as needed.
  • Responsible for ensuring security compliance on all devices, equipment, data and networks.

Education and Experience

Post-secondary education in a related field and a minimum of 5 or more years of relevant experience within a similar role and/or in the mining industry.


This position is located in Red Lake, ON. In this role, you will work a 5X2 schedule.
