In-House Legal Counsel, FFUN Group

We have a new opening for an experienced In-House Legal Counsel. Reporting to our Chief Financial Officer, you will draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts and be responsible for legal compliance initiatives, corporate governance, and ad-hoc projects.

You are passionate about providing insightful, thorough, focused, and risk-based legal guidance. Your stakeholders rely on you as a trusted advisor to provide timely, pragmatic, business-oriented solutions as you effectively manage legal risk. A Day in the Life:

• Give accurate, practical and timely counsel to FFUN’s leadership team in a variety of legal topics (employment law, partnerships, corporate finance, acquisitions, etc.)
• Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations and apply effective risk management techniques
• Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts including customer and supplier agreements, distribution agreements, intellectual property licenses, non-disclosure agreements, development agreements, and real estate leases
• Coordinate with, and manage, external legal counsel on all relevant matters
• Stay up-to-date with changes to legislation, particularly in relation to laws, rules and regulations that directly affect our business and specific industry.

A Great Attitude will get you 90% there, for the rest, we're looking for:

• LLB Degree required.
• A Member of the Law Society of Saskatchewan or Ontario in good standing.
• Qualified lawyer/solicitor licensed to practice law in Canada.
• 5 years of practice in business law gained at a Canadian law firm and/or in-house legal department.
• Excellent negotiation and drafting skills.
• The ability to communicate complex legal issues and risks in terms that non-legal colleagues can understand.
• Ability to impact and influence both internal and external stakeholders and provide exceptional customer service.
