Due to growth, we are looking for a Human Resources Generalist to join us and be part of our dynamic team. Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the primary focus of the role (70%) is payroll / reporting and benefits. Additional duties (30%) include, but are not limited to, general administration / data entry, assisting with projects, and recruitment. The ideal candidate is an HR Professional with a passion for payroll and benefits, along with interest / experience in other areas of HR.

HYBRID WORK MODEL: Work in the office at 1280 Courtneypark Drive E, Mississauga every Monday and Wednesday, as well as alternate Fridays.

What You’ll Do:

Payroll and Reporting

  • Process hourly and salaried payroll for approximately 300 employees.
  • Set up and maintain information in the payroll / HR system i.e. new hires, status changes, terminations, earnings and deductions, etc.
  • Create, modify, develop and generate reports related to compensation, headcount, vacation accrual, SOX compliance and ad hoc.
  • Maintain and update the payroll / HR system i.e. codes, fields, pay groups, etc.
  • Troubleshoot any payroll / HR system issues.
  • Work with the payroll provider / Finance to investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Work with Finance to ensure remittances are completed as required.
  • Complete WSIB reconciliation.
  • Coordinate with Health and Safety regarding WSIB claims. Respond to employee inquiries.
  • Communicate payroll information and notices to employees.

  • Reconcile invoices to ensure changes are updated accurately. Allocate costs.
  • Manage and maintain existing reports.
  • Develop new reports as required to ensure accurate tracking and submission of information.

Other Duties

  • Complete onboarding documentation / paperwork data entry.
  • Assist with the recruitment and selection process.
  • Support HR projects and initiatives.
  • Other duties and assignments as required.

What You Bring to the Role:

  • Undergraduate University Degree or College Diploma in Human Resources, Business or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience processing payroll and administering benefits.
  • CHRL designation / in progress is an asset.
  • Knowledge and understanding of HR laws and regulations (Ontario, BC, Alberta and Quebec) including those related to payroll.
  • Knowledge of Workers Compensation is an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office. Intermediate computer skills required in Excel i.e. formulas, pivot tables, v-look ups.
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems. ADP Workforce Now is a definite asset.
  • Experience with online benefits administration.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented and accurate.
  • Able to manage, maintain and organize a large volume of data.
  • Dedicated commitment to providing superior, timely internal and external customer service.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in verbal and written form.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced, results oriented environment.
  • High standards of ethics and confidentiality to handle sensitive information.
  • Ability to travel within the GTA (10%).
