What You Will Do

• Assist project managers in the preparation of schedules, budgets, regular reports.
• Assist in the coordination and planning of engineering tasks.
• Support senior engineers in review of engineering design and documents.
• Conduct technical and financial analysis of renewable energy technologies.
• Assist in evaluation of energy efficiency opportunities. This requires working with site, regional, corporate staff as well as external consultants.
• Under the guidance of senior staff, prepare PowerPoint presentations for Executive management.
• Conduct analysis of energy markets (supply-demand-price-reliability).

The Opportunity

The Engineering team is seeking an ambitious student to join our team for the summer of 2023 as part of our Gold Rush summer internship program.

A placement at Kinross Gold Corporation is a unique opportunity to be exposed to different disciplines within the company and also gain site experience or preparation for a role at site. Additionally, working from our corporate office gives you context about our sites and how they all tie into the broader portfolio, and impact shareholders and the market. The teams you will be working with are engaged and high-performing and include approachable people from all walks of life. They are very hands-on and take mentorship seriously, so you will receive a lot of support, guidance, and training to gain the skills you need to get the job done.

Must Haves

• 3rd year student studying Mechanical Engineering.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• The Applicant must have their own lodging in Toronto for the duration of the placement.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
• Proven ability to collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Team player with an ability to work effectively in a team setting.
• Strong time management skills, including the ability to meet multiple and competing deadlines.

Nice To Haves

• Language skills in French, Arabic, Portuguese, or Spanish
• Experience working with culturally diverse teams
• Active extracurriculars
• A demonstrated interest of having a career in mining
• Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite
