Requirements

• Completion of high school, must be able to read and write, and perform basic math.
• Minimum 3 months of delivery experience.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence or better.
• Satisfactory verification of criminal record check and driver’s abstract.
• Physically able to kneel and crouch as well as lift, carry, push or pull objects weighing
  up to 100 lbs. without the assistance of mobile or powered equipment.
• Attention to detail, good hand/eye coordination and situational awareness of physical work environment.

Job Overview

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, as the Delivery Driver/Shop Labourer you are responsible for performing general labour activities, delivering building materials to customer homes or construction sites and providing support to the Plumbing team. You also assist in ensuring cleanliness and organization of the job site and the shop and load, transport, and unload materials manually.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Delivering materials via the most efficient route to residential construction jobsites.
• Assisting the Shop Manager with arranging the shop and organizing materials.
• Cutting, threading, reaming and assembling pipes according to specifications, ensuring to meet the established quality standard.
• Loading truck in a safe and timely manner, and minimizing down time in yard. Assisting forklift operators loading trucks as needed.
• Preparing and arranging valves to be ready for delivery.
• Operating a diesel, electric or propane powered forklift to safely move goods as required.
• Working in a safe manner and complying with Star’s Safety Program and relevant safety regulations. Reporting any violations and incidents or near miss incidents to management immediately
• Keeping equipment clean and in a good order condition, including completion of daily pre-trip inspections.

Working Conditions

You primarily work outdoors during regular business hours. Works is mobile with exposure to potential accidents or occupational hazards as well as dealing with inclement weather, heights, dust and noise. Responsibility for the safety and health is important. Actions taken and decisions made directly impact the safety and health of others. Occasional weekend or evening work may be required.
