Community and Outreach Coordinator
About us
The newly formed Environmental Health Association of Canada (EHAC) is looking for a community and outreach coordinator to join our small but mighty team. Our mission is to promote and protect the health of individuals and communities in Canada by advocating for and implementing measures to prevent or reduce environmental health risks. We work to raise public awareness about the links between the environment and health, namely by providing education and training on environmental health issues to individuals, healthcare professionals, and community groups; we advocate for advocates for evidence-based policies and regulations that protect public health and the environment; we collaborate with government agencies, industry, and other stakeholders to promote sustainable practices and reduce environmental health risks; and we conduct and support research on environmental health issues to inform policies and interventions.
Position summary
The Environmental Health Association of Canada (EHAC) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated community and outreach coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate will have good knowledge of how to build a national community group, including setting up social media and YouTube channels, securing charitable numbers, and capacity building. They will also have strong writing and communication skills and be able to create engaging website content. Additionally, the candidate should be able to work well in a team and be able to give workshops on selected topics.
General duties
· Build and maintain a national community group, including securing charitable status and developing partnerships with like-minded organizations and all levels of government.
· Set up and manage social media and YouTube channels to engage with the public and promote our activities and events.
· Develop and implement capacity-building programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of community group members.
· Create engaging website content that promotes the association's activities and events and informs members and the wider community about its mission and goals.
· Work closely with the association’s leadership team to develop and implement strategic plans and achieve its objectives.
· Organize and deliver workshops and training sessions for a wide array of audiences.
· Monitor and report on the community group's activities, including its membership and engagement levels, to the leadership team and key stakeholders.
Education and experience
· Master’s degree in communications, management, public health, psychology, science, sociology, or another related field.
Preferred skills
· Strong writing and communication skills.
· Excellent proficiency with Canva.
Status: Full-time (35 hrs/week)
