In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Executive Director, General Support Services and Clinical Logistics, the Director, Clinical Logistics provides program leadership and direction to managers responsible for in house and contracted logistics services. These services include: Equipment Distribution Services, Transport Services, Mail Processing, Non Emergent Patient Transportation Services and regional laundry programs. The Director is accountable for oversight of related daily operations across Island Health and providing and guiding Clinical Logistics and Laundry Services.

Working within the scope of the Island Health Strategic Plan, the Director provides operational support services that balance client needs and financial imperatives.

The Director is accountable for providing leadership and direction in the administration of quality measurement and evaluation of vendor performance for contracted services. The Director acts as the Island Health liaison with senior contractor management to develop/modify service level agreements, to resolve any issues arising from the contracted services, and to ensure contractual obligations are provided.

Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master's degree in a related discipline such as Business Administration (MBA) or Logistics Management plus ten (10) years' progressive senior management experience in Logistics or Supply Chain management at a regional level.

Valid BC Driver's License.

  • Ability to operate related equipment, including various word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and manage relationships with strategic partners and solution providers.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to the needs of stakeholders supported by an awareness of the impact of actions.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish courses of action for self and others that are results oriented.
  • Demonstrated project management experience with multi-faceted projects and stringent timelines.
