We’re looking for a Business Systems Analyst . The work location for this position is Burnaby, British Columbia , and is eligible for a fully remote or hybrid work arrangement .

The Opportunity:

The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for contributing to the overall success of Ritchie Bros. Financial Services (“RBFS”) by managing and supporting business systems and IT related change projects, that support RBFS objectives. This role will be primarily responsible for the RBFS API connectivity with our lending partners and vendor product. Responsibilities include working with users – internal and external to RBFS – to identify and document business requirements, recommend solutions, and support development, configuration, testing and post-implementation.
The Business Systems Analyst is expected to share responsibility, along with Project Management, of the delivery of assigned IT and systems related projects.

In this role you’ll:
  • Determine and document requirements and recommendations for solutions based on the analysis of internal business needs, external partner needs, overall objectives, and existing enterprise architecture.
  • Prepare and maintain XML schema documentation that provide detailed design and mapping requirements for development and configuration.
  • Define as-is and to-be processes, perform gap analysis and work with the team to devise an action plan to address the needs.
  • Coordinate and oversee mapping activities as well as user acceptance testing activities.
  • Report on post-implementation process and performance changes.
  • Ensure the IT and system products supports the company’s overall strategy and goals.
  • Support strategic product roadmap developments and product feature definitions.
  • Support other development and testing teams in the successful development and delivery of new products, features, and enhancements.

Here’s what you bring:
  • University degree required in the field of business administration, computer science, finance, or management information systems or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3-5 years Business Analyst or related experience with API development , ideally within the financial services industry.
  • Excellent core business analyst / fundamental project management skills.
  • Previous experience translating/converting XML schemas into documentation reviewed by business users and product teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to understand and capture requirements and interact with business and technical stakeholders to plan and initiate the implementation of appropriate solutions. Technical writing experience is an asset.
  • Experience in supporting API developments and enhancements between multiple parties.
  • Ability to gather, organize and assess data.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments with competing priorities by continuously re-evaluating project statuses, identifying issues and risks, suggesting ways to mitigate them, and escalating when necessary.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) processes and tools, with specific experience in Agile SDLC.
  • Experience in creating status reports.
  • Experience working with development/support teams.
  • Experience with Salesforce platform and products is preferred.

This job will require you to:
  • Assess and analyze business problems and work with both internal users and external users to develop recommendations for net-new API builds or existing API enhancements.
  • Work closely with internal and external users to determine requirements and recommendations for solutions based on the analysis of business needs, objectives, and existing enterprise architecture.
  • Write requirement specifications according to industry standards, using natural language; simple, clear, unambiguous, complete, appropriate, concise, and verifiable.
  • Work closely with IT Architecture teams at RBFS, our external IT partners, and our lending institution partners to ensure the alignment between IT solutions and business needs.
  • Own responsibility of mapping of data fields between all parties and ensures accuracy.
  • Own RBFS’ User Acceptance Testing for the business.
  • Analyze business issues and challenges and participate in business process and business systems initiatives to improve business performance.
  • Translate XML schemas into documentation to be reviewed by business users and product teams.
  • Build relationships with internal and external customers leveraging communication and presentation skills.
  • Be the primary liaison between all parties to ensure alignment and clarity of project.
  • Support the members of the RBFS Department of Information with the development and management of API and related product roadmaps.
  • Act as a strong communicator and advocate for alignment for all parties involved in API development and other development projects.
  • Work with clients at all organizational levels to define business processes and provide advice on systems.
  • Participate in the cost-benefit analyses for proposed changes to facilitate management in making implementation decisions.
  • Perform other various duties as required from time to time.
