An exciting opportunity awaits
We currently have an opportunity for the Branch Manager – Steinbach Branch to join our team. As the Branch Manager, you will be responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of organizational strategy, developing, and implementing operational plans, delivering business results, leading a team and ensuring compliance related to deposit and lending activities.
Specific Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the development of corporate vision and strategy and leverage the information to create and execute on operational plans.
  • Work with various Managers and Senior Management to foster a collaborative environment between the departments and teams (Ex. Corporate Lending, Information Technology, Risk Management, etc.).
  • Provide day to day leadership to the Teller Services, Member Services, and Consumer Lending Leadership teams as well as the Branch Administration team (including staffing decisions, monthly coaching, training/developing staff, and performance management).
  • Act as a change leader for major change initiatives in support of business needs.
  • Partner with others across the organization to clarify priorities, apply systems thinking, and assign resources to drive results.
  • Develop and communicate relevant metrics to demonstrate progress towards agreed upon goals and targets (ex. Balanced scorecard, financial plans); take action or escalate issues as required.
  • Develop, maintain, and model a thorough knowledge of credit union policies, procedures, and corporate values.
  • Provide back up support and coverage for branch functional leaders as required.
  • Ensure functional services are provided efficiently and effectively throughout the organization while meeting compliance requirements.
  • Resolve service-related issues and/or provide direction and/or authorization for transactions that are outside of staff discretionary limits when required, escalating those outside of authority level or scope of influence; likely to require coordination of effort across departments and/or locations.
  • Leverage reporting and metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and root causes of performance issues related to branch activities; apply judgment to take action or escalate as required.
  • Recognize and encourage behaviors within the team that focus on efficiency; champion continuous improvement throughout the organization, formulating guidelines for best business practices in partnership with branch functional leaders, peers, and the Chief Retail Sales Officer when applicable.
  • Actively participate in the development of functional budgets, operational plans, and business cases; ensure staffing levels and discretionary spending remains within budgeted levels.
  • Partner with the Information Technology department to assess software and hardware products that will impact branch functional departments, providing feedback related to effectiveness and/or implementation.
  • Review credit worthiness of Consumer lending requests within approved lending authority when presented by staff, make recommendations for modifications, and/or approve/decline request (back-up support).
  • Ensure adherence to applicable service level agreements (SLAs) and partner with leaders of stakeholder groups to maintain, review and modify SLAs as needed.
  • Achieve targets by ensuring Leaders have the tools, information, and training they require to deliver results.
  • Partner with branch functional leaders and/or peers to develop and implement marketing plans aimed at increasing member awareness and/or branch profitability.
  • Stay abreast of external trends and uncertainties that may have short/long term impact; identify market opportunities to grow SCU’s core business and diversify revenues where appropriate; actively network to develop new and enhance existing relationships.
  • Actively participate in professional development courses, conferences and learning activities beyond required training; promote continuous learning to staff members.
  • Foster a strong team environment that will attract, retain, and develop existing and potential staff.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of the credit union/financial services industry and operations.
  • Leadership best practices, including performance management and recognition
  • Member centric focused, with proven member experience skills.
  • Strong mentoring and relationship building skills with ability to effectively partner cross-functionally.
  • In-depth knowledge of retail banking and/or credit adjudication.
  • Knowledge of sales/marketing strategy, techniques, and principles.
  • Ability to think strategically and develop plans and recommendations that support the achievement of Steinbach Credit Union’s strategic objectives.
  • Strong negotiation, interpersonal, written and oral communications skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree specializing in Business and 10+ years of job-related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to adapt, prioritize, and plan to meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
  • Effective leadership and analytical skills including working knowledge of financial budget analysis, staffing models, and scheduling.
  • Experience in creating business plans, change management, communication, and implementing plans in collaboration with key stakeholders.
