Job Description

Imperial Dade Canada, leading national distributor, has a job open in Montreal. This position is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate financial reporting for Imperial Dade Canada Inc., in accordance with GAAP. The position will develop and monitor compliance with accounting policies and provide accounting guidance to ensure accuracy in reporting and compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and accounting policies. Under general supervision, this position is responsible for general ledger journal entries, month-end close procedures, and analyzing balances in accounts for appropriateness. This position performs account reconciliations and is required to have detailed knowledge of assigned general ledger accounts and their contents. This position is required to meet all scheduled monthly financial reporting and provide accurate and timely analysis and research as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Frequent interaction with personnel throughout the Company.
  • Maintain assigned general ledger or subsidiary ledger accounts by reviewing documents to ensure accuracy of information and calculations, preparing supporting schedules, recording appropriate journal entries consistent with US or local GAAP, and reconciling on a monthly basis.
  • Assist in the month-end and year-end close.
  • Perform analysis and review of large volumes of transaction level data to ensure proper accounting.
  • Acts as the subject matter expert in assigned accounting area(s).
  • Review financial results for completeness by preparing various reports, schedules, and reconciliations.
  • Support various audits by providing accounting documents, schedules, and other relevant information.
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Support external reporting to various governmental agencies.
  • Develop technical proficiency of US or local GAAP in assigned accounting area(s).
  • Take responsibility for different or supplemental accounting area(s).
  • Seek out opportunities to rotate into new accounting area(s).
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities.
  • Take leadership roles in special projects or other initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 3-4 years of relevant, progressive accounting experience.
  • Certification (CPA, CFA, CIA, or CMA) preferred and maybe required for exact position.
  • Advanced understanding and proficiency of US or local GAAP and general accounting principles.
  • Intermediate knowledge of technical accounting research.
  • Exposure to project management principles
  • Must be a self-starter, results driven, and capable of working autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • Able to work in a dynamic environment.
  • Positive and professional demeanor, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to interact effectively with a variety of team members in various departments.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including pivot tables.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Access, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • French required for Montreal position.
  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited College/University required and Accounting Major preferred.
  • Masters degree in accounting or related area or additional accounting credit hours to be eligible for the CPA examination is preferred.
