Job Description

On the Fly Café at the Comox Valley Airport is hiring for Barista positions. We are looking for high-energy, outgoing, enthusiastic individuals. Weekend availability is required (either a Sat or Sun). You must care about the quality of the food and beverages you're serving. You’ll be in a fast-paced environment where you’ll have the ability to master your food & beverage craft, work alongside friendly people and meet new people every day.

Summary of Experience

  • Previous experience in a café or restaurant is preferred. You will be trained by knowledgeable and experienced staff.
  • Must be eligible for Serving It Right and Food Safe certification.

Basic Qualifications

  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Available to work flexible hours that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights and/or holidays
  • Meet operating policies and standards, including providing quality beverages and food products, cash handling and store safety and security
  • Engage with and understand our customers, including discovering and responding to customer needs through clear and pleasant communication
  • Prepare food and beverages to standard recipes or customized for customers, including recipe changes such as temperature, the quantity of ingredients or substituted ingredients
  • Available to perform many different tasks within the store during each shift

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and request clarification when needed
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Casual
Part-time hours: 20-40 per week

Salary: $17.50-$19.00 per hour
