MAINTAIR AVIATION SERVICES has a 35+ year history of providing safe, customer focused aviation services. As we continue to grow, we are currently seeking candidates for FULL TIME RAMP ATTENDANT/BAGGAGE HANDLER in Ottawa, Ontario!


SHIFTS AVAILABLE:

Maintair operates 24/7/365 in Ottawa and the succesful candidate will have a choice of morning, daytime, night and/or overnight shifts for full time candidates.


HIRING & RETENTION INCENTIVE:

Existing Canadian Airport RAIC holders are eligible for up to a $1000 hiring incentive plus a wage bump by one level at time of hiring. Ongoing Retention Incentives are also available, based on performance and longevity with the company. All team members are eligible for flight benefits with the carriers we proudly partner with as well.


JOB SUMMARY:

  • Ramp Attendants work under the direction of the Station Leadership to ensure all aspects of aircraft handling are completed safely according to specific company policies & procedures. Safety, attention to detail, following company procedures, and team work are key components to being a successful ramp attendant.
  • The ideal candidate must possess verbal & written communication skills, be energetic, outgoing, understanding and accepting of change.
  • He/She must also be flexible and able to deal with the adapting nature of aviation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sort, load, unload baggage and cargo from flights.
  • Service lavatories and potable water per company standards.
  • Connect, disconnect ground power/bridge power from Aircraft.
  • Marshall aircraft to and from gate, parking stands.
  • Wing walk arrivals and departures.
  • Operate belt loaders, baggage tractors and carts.
  • Complete aircraft grooming.
  • Complete aircraft towing and/or brake riding.
  • Complete daily inspection of operating equipment.
  • Complete equipment deficiency reports as required.
  • Snow removal, equipment cleaning, housekeeping as required.
  • Attend all required training sessions and successfully complete training courses.
  • Actively participate in company safety programs.
  • Work as a team member in a safe, efficient, professional manner.
  • Adhere to published uniform standards and requirements.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and safe workplace procedures.
  • Take direction from ramp shift leads/supervisors and Station Manager or Coordinator.
  • Complete customer baggage and/or cargo deliveries as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to apply and secure an Airport Restricted Area Pass (RAIC).
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Must have valid driver’s license with clean abstract.
  • Ability to speak, write and understand the English language.
  • Previous airline and/or freight handling experience would be an asset.
  • Must have excellent team player competencies.
  • Must be willing to adapt to the changing nature of aviation.
  • Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
