Job Description
- Ensures proper documentation of discrepancies.
- Maintains good working knowledge of Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Provides information regarding hours of work, specimen collection and results to all clients
- calling in to the Core Lab.
- Troubleshoots missing pieces.
- Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication with co-workers, other
- departmental staff and external clients including physicians and patients.
- Demonstrates discretion and confidentiality in all circumstances.
- Maintains effective working relationships with co-workers, physicians/pathologists and other
- departmental staff.
- Ensures proper telephone etiquette is used.
- Annually reads and follows company Safety Manual.
- Maintains clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Knows location and use of safety equipment.
- Reports accidents and safety concerns to Department Manager.
- Completes all daily work records and logbooks as requires.
- As required, reviews procedure manuals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Incumbent must be well organized and understand the need for accuracy in order to maintain patient safety.
Required Skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Keyboarding skills and basic computer knowledge
- Must be thorough, accurate and detail oriented.
Required Experience
- Minimum 6 months of customer service experience is required
- Medical background is an asset Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Related post-secondary education (E.g. Medical Office Assistant, Unit Clerk)
- Basic knowledge of MS Office suite
- Proficient in data entry
- Knowledge of medical terminology and LIS
