1st and 2nd Year Apprentice Electrician
Kantra Electric Inc. is a Calgary based electrical contractor. Innovation, attention to detail, knowledge, quality and service are at the heart of its brand. We specialize in providing trusted solutions in electrical construction management, solar array off grid and grid tie systems, fire alarm maintenance/audits, new fire alarm install/upgrades, and fire alarm repairs for residential and commercial clientele. After several years of serving more than 200 clients, we need someone to help us to continue to meet the diverse electrical needs of our client base.
As an apprentice with Kantra Electric Inc., you will be working in a team that provides electrical solutions for a variety of electrical needs. You may be working on a residential project ensuring the safety of a homeowner by safely upgrading the aluminum wiring in their home to working on an off grid solar system providing renewable energy solutions for a commercial client or ensuring the safety of hundreds of people in a residential condominium by successfully installing a upgraded fire alarm system - all while simultaneously honing and developing your own skill set.

Requirements
To be considered for this role, please have the following in regards to:
- Experience: At least 1-2 years in a similar role working on residential and commercial projects.
- Education: 1st or 2nd year indentured Apprentice in Electrical Trade, or 1st year technical training completed with an accredited college, and 1 year cumulative hours on the job.
- Skills: You must have the ability and willingness to learn new skill sets, and take positive criticism. General knowledge of using math, fractions and reading a tape measure.
- Characteristics: You need to be flexible and adaptable to handle the wide variety of projects and jobs under journeyman supervision. The ability to work on a residential project one day and a large solar project the next is a necessity. We understand that the electrical industry is continually evolving; a growth mindset and enthusiasm to continually learn and develop is necessary to ensure clients are provided with the most knowledgeable and innovative solutions to their electrical contracting needs. Integrity, honesty, and a strong work ethic are integral and central in how we conduct ourselves with our clients and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Duties will vary depending on project needs however as an apprentice your responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
- Learn, interpret and apply electrical code specifications under journeyman supervision
- Learn to pull cabling, installing conduit, and boxes under journeyman supervision
- Learn to assess, plan and install circuitry for residential renovations projects adhering to current code standards under journeyman supervision
- Learn to Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibre-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical component under journeyman supervision
- Learn to test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance
- Learn to Troubleshoot, maintain and repair electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices under journeyman supervision
- Learn to Perform Annual Fire Alarm and Emergency Lighting Inspections and complete documentation under journeyman supervision
- Log all services, materials utilized and submit report to supervisor on a timely basis
- Occasional travel required
- Organize and maintain tools, parts and the work area
- You will need your own transportation
- Ability to lift equipment and tools up to 70lbs and climb ladders and scaffolding
